Goethequartier - Living and working on the Goethestraße, Aachen

SS 2017

Term: 1 Semester

Within the scope of the Bachelor design project, a densely populated residential, working and living area will be developed on a property at Goethestraße.

A new attractive address is to be created on the almost 1 hectare area of the Goethe Quarter, which is currently being used as a parking lot. Expected is the development of a high-quality, small-scale and differentiated building structures which appeal to as many different unique user groups as possible. Current issues of urban planning like the change of social and working conditions as well as site-specific surroundings of the area have to be integrated in the design.
Conceptually, the main question regarding the urban planning and typological structure is how the different requirements and needs for residential, working and open space can be taken into account.

Ideas are sought which describe how the sense of a spatial and functional structure can satisfy a wide variety of demands in the urban context.

In addition to these requirements, concepts are to be developed on how synergies can be achieved and implemented spatially by means of shared facilities within the district.
